I am not just a bonsai guy, but I'm also a life long gearhead/car guy. Been that way since I was about 12 yrs old. I own a 69 GTO tube chassis car that will run mid 8's once finished. With that said, I dunno if there are other car guys here. But I will share some pics. I am lucky enough to live only 1 mile from the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise. I have probably 500+ pics from the past week, but I can't upload&resize them all lol. So here are just a few for you other car guys to enjoy.

Shit Steve!

People must have thought it was about reel gears!

I had no idea!

My uncle was recently interviewed at a show.

I'm not so much a wrencher, but i do love cars, old or new. I used to have a 69 beetle that i sold. I really wanted a 67-69 camaro but they aren't as cheap as the beetles!

Nice pics. so many beefy tires! That 55 two door post(i think?) looks like a sweet paint job and man that green impala looks like it could take off.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting. Always love seeing the big blowers. Seems everyone is going turbo now. Its crazy how and when they can tune the power to come on. I can remember getting hooked on cars when I was a kid. Had an uncle with a 67 camaro . He would take us out and do burn outs. Still one of my favorite cars. I dont like wrenching anymore but do have an c7 zo6. I'm doing everything I can to Not take it to the shop 15 minutes away and turn them loose on it. They specialize in LS engines. The technology in the z06 is crazy. Every time I get on it it makes me feel like I felt when I was a kid in my uncles car doing big burn outs.
Love to see some pictures of your GTO. Turbo car?

Nope no turbo for me. While they are a great way to make reliable power I'm very old school and have a 871 blower. I'll dig up some pics and share of my goat. I think they are on my ext hard drive so will have to dig that out and upload a few.

Took a bit to dig out my Ext HD and load the pics but here's my goat. I bought this car about 15 yrs ago. It's a 69 Le Manns because I didn't want to butcher a real GTO like this lol. All that is left of the original car is the metal roof and rear quarters. The rest of the body is all custom made fiberglass, all tube chassis from Chris Alston Chassis works, DTS Dana 60 with 4:56 spool & 35 spline axles. 18.5 rear MT's, dual custom dual funny car cages, coil overs, A - arm front and disc all around. 540 Dart Merlin block with a Weiand 8-71 blower.

Truth be told though I have actually been seriously thinking of selling it this year. Don't get me wrong I still LOVE muscle cars and all. But when I bought this car with plans of going fast I was 30 yrs old. Now I'm gonna be 46 in a few months, and working my body into a jungle jim everytime I want to get in & out of the car doesn't appeal much to me. And honestly now at 46....doing 150-160mph in 1/4 mile....ehhhh, not sure I really want to do that anymore at this age. Plus over the past 15 yrs I have changed a lot. I'm a much simpiler man these days and don't care much for money and items anymore. Still undecided on selling it because I do love her (her name is Vanessea...yes, she has a name ;) ) But well see what happens. Anyway here's a few pics.

871 blower
Just think, they used to get these off of buses if I remember right. G.M.C.
Blowers are the way to go. No lag waiting for exhaust for boost.
With the blower the power is there right away and you can change the amount of boost with a pully/belt change.
I've had a few cars myself over the years. Had a 69 camaro with a 67 327/375h.p. corvette engine with the factory dual quad carbeurators. I sold that but kept the engine to stuff in a 73 Vega GT. It was a vicious thing. I sold that car after I blew it up.
These things cost money that I don't have anymore. But I might make something one last time. I'm thinking pick up truck. A newer Chevy 2 wheel drive with an LS3 engine would be nice. Just a tire smoking machine is all I want.

Yep Mike just a simple pully change makes a huge difference. Under / overdrive by the pully/gear change. I tell ya one thing that is funny too, the cost of blowers. I bought my Weiand blower from Ramchargers about 15 years ago brand new for about $1900. Now a days 15 years later, that same blower sells for almost $4000 through Summit which is the cheapest speed parts place around. Talk about an investment, I wish I had bought 10 of them lol

The 540 Merlin wasn't cheap either.
None of the go fast parts anymore.
Hard to find a 350 four bolt main block anymore at a junkyard.

My old man was a bolts and mechanics kinda guy and I always hated it.

But the detailing/refinishing bug bit me.

Recently dealt with chips, rust and hail damage on my wife's 13 year old Honda. Filled, primed, repainted.

I don't care about the kind of car really, just how good it looks.

10% of cars at shows actually make me cringe. Don't care how much muscle it has if it's shoddily maintained.

I would love to get one that year & mod it out to match the bumblebee one in the 4th transformers movie. Just me though.

IMG_5064.JPG This is mine. All stock. Might get similar year but Trans Am with T-Tops or Bandit Trans Am as I loved that movie as a kid. That or latest gen camaro. I know zilch about doing anything automotive. Wish I did but not my forte. The black 2010 camaro belongs to a customer who comes into the restaurant. Ran into him at a church car show. Got the business card for the guy who did the custom paint job on it. Only thing I've done is plasti dipped the wheels on the Firebird & blackened out the front of my Silverado with plasti dip. Rank amateur at best. @Steve C if your work on the car is anything like your aquariums it's gonna be impeccable.

Custom paint on the inside as well

Stripes & blackened front on my truck. Had my mechanic put on fender flares to cover rust & added stepside bars because my rocker panels are almost gone & my kids can step on those when getting in/out.
