Today i performed some cosmetic surgery on one of my ficus benjamina 'too little'. The ficus was a large cutting from this tree originally

I came across a good tutorial on how to develop figs properly and thought i would give it a go

I had already experimented with this method before with a swamp cypress with good results.

I started by sawing/splitting the trunk at the base and then wedging the trunk open

I thought i would try and make a cutting with the leftover top using the same method

I really hope this works! It could really give you some dramatic results if so.

Awesome!
I've seen this technique in books and in videos with no follow up.
Never seen the aftermath, which makes me think it never works.
But if there is anything that can do it, it's a ficus!
Good luck buddy!

Hi beanwagon.
Is the instructional dated for southern or northern hemisphere?
Thanks

It's a bit hard to tell, but it looks quite successful! Are you happy with the results?
