It appears to me that the yellow tips are on last year's foliage? If so, that's normal.

If it gets any worse I'd say it's a fungus and use the alternating daconil and copper treatment for a month as outlined by @Smoke in a fungus related post.

My mugo will be repotted next year, my teacher will be helping me (peter foele) the needles are really light green he said this is due to a lack of iron from previous owner! The yellow tips haven't got worse but the 3 year old needles at the back are starting to shed

I think the plant will use what it wants to use. I try not to make a science of all this feeding. Just use any standard organic or liquid feed and the plant will use whatever it needs.

Get rid of false moss sprouts on soil before gaining foothold or going to seed. Most insidious of all weeds:mad:!

Looks to me like needle cast or burn. If its hot enough where you love you can see that kind if burn in one afternoon if the tree needed water. Nothing serious if its burn. Im curious, the needles that are yellow all seem to be on one side of the candle. Is that the south facing side? If so i would definitely say its just a slight bit of burn. Nothing to really worry about.

However, I would always recommend using daconil preventively going in to periods of consistent rain or high humidity and mild heat. Only way to prevent fungus from occurring is to do so with preventative treatments. Otherwise youre just preventing spread. Those needles affected will never regain green tips

From what i read Needle cast starts with yellow spots on the needles at random places on the needles not just the tips like these two mugo's

Hell yes! I pride myself on the ability to locate them before they even get taller than the moss!

Driver,

Don't know if it's related, but I had yeller last year, this year, I neemed it as the candles opened,

and Iron....

I got old rusted pieces of iron on there, two with a good amount of old concrete attached, and an old nail.

Still green all year!

All organic fert too...

Which may help.

One repot from this year is yellowing, no added iron, had pellet chem in spring, but organic since yellowing.

Sure ain't full sun or burn, mine been cooking!

Iron don't hurt!

Correct, but on one of mine, the few needles that had needle cast started just like that and worked their way down until the brown band was revealed. Judging by the time of year I would definitely think this was some minor burn. There's always the chance it is an iron deficiency too. I bought some chelated iron and iron pellets for one of my other pines that had a pale color to the needles from the tips, and working it's way down. In the two months I used the pellets, with one watering in of the liquid iron a month, I have seen those needles bounce back to full green.
