First up.. two random Barbara Karst and Royal Purples that I have not had time to chop and repot. I told @Carol 83 I would post an example to show the flower color. Barbara Karst is interesting as it is one of the first hybrids in the US trade and is a cross between B. glabra and B. peruviana (B. 'Crimson Lake' x B. 'Sanderiana'). The bracts are a deep magenta, the leaves are described as dull dark green broadly-ovate pointed leaves that have a slightly wavy margin it's hardy down to about 25F.

Then BOUGAINVILLEA x buttiana 'Royal Purple' for which there is not as much information on. It is a much larger plant than Barbara Karst with lighter green and smaller leaves. I am not sure why they call it "purple" it is a very light purple if a purple at all beautiful none the less. The flowers start VERY pale and darken over time.

Next BK is really nice but needs to fill in some but in a week or 2, it will be much better. I would also to like shorten it some and there are a few places where a bit of carving would help. One pic is at a bit an of an angle which if I keep it I will do next repot. It's about 8" tall. 20170912_234201.jpg 20170912_234402.jpg 20170912_234630.jpg 20170912_234828.jpg 20170912_235035.jpg 20170912_235512.jpg 20170912_235943.jpg

Next are the purples this first one, Freddy Mercury sang a song about... He said, "they make the rockin world go round..." Mind you these were all just pruned back and will fill out a nicely in a few days. The leaves on the purples are very small for some reason. :)

Last but not least another Purple... Has a nice little half inch taper in the first inch from the soil and again needs a few weeks to fill in. 20170913_101056.jpg 20170913_101150.jpg

I'm looking forward to receiving the other Barbara Karst ;)

Thank you for leaving the small one for me! The plant room is getting tight, going to finally add the 40+ foot of shelving and lights after everything goes back out in Spring. Simply no time this year
