I'm going to be the spoiler...we need to stick to restraints to some degree. Or the contest won't be taken seriously. The time capsule Contest. I missed joining. But a deadline was set. This contest had a long gathering period for ones to find material.

If you let these ones join past the deadline...then what do we tell the next person who wants in? And at what point would be the "cut off"?

@defra 's discretion is looking alittle stretched.. :) time for an "entrys are now closed" post.

Of the three birches, one keeps blowing over in heavy wind.. I think it's volentiering..

Ok. I could enter this, but feel free to disqualify me if it's further along than you think is allowed.

You might remember this.

It's sort of a cute little first year cutting then. Over vacation, one of two of the root cuttings died. It grew some and I decided to have a real bonsai out of it. It has no trunk so outside of the movement, I have nothing. I decide to create the illusion of density by compacting it.

I added wite and bends.

Removed suckers.

More bends, maybe 3 or four.

I still like cascade or semi cascade.

Love the quirky twists! You will have fun with it...I'm pretty certain you were already in the contest with three other pieces of material. That said...doesn't mean you can't enjoy projects outside the contest agenda.

Yes. I have a Mexican Heather, a Japanese maple, and Elm seedlings. The Elm seedlings are gone; some people thought they were weeds. They originally were so no big loss :D

Gone...they died?
Didn't realize that...so two left in contest? I've just the one now that I pulled my Goji. But,hey...still cool they made the cut...right!?! I've several projects going on. Still cool. I still am not 100% that the Boston Ivy will not DQ at some point...I can't leave tendrils on it for the contest. So I am enjoying them this year. Lol

It appeared @defra allowed inclusion of a quince root cutting in the mame ideas thread, not sure. OK if not. It will live on and move forward anyways.

Edit: Whoa, this is the idea thread. Too many threads!

Is that whats going on?
Yes, swap if that's ok. Noticed a lot of entries coming in so I thought I'd bring the quince up.

Boston Ivy...can't wait to put this in a mame pot come spring. I am sure it will take on a more purposeful look to it. Fall colors coming out. If nothing else...I gained a new piece of material for my bench from this contest...Its small leaves compared to the creeper...makes this one more of a favorite. Though the creeper has its own charms.

The squirrels and the trusty canine companion keep digging up my Hornbeam. So far the only damage is one branch getting broken off. Of course it was the branch I intended to keep... but at least the tree seems healthy. The roses are doing great, despite the occasional disruption by said faithful canine.
