I like the tree tall but there is room for improvements. If you did buy it you could have fun improving it over time. The foliage on Old Gold is not the best but it probably is not that bad on larger trees like the one you are looking into buying.

I worked on my Old Gold last night for an hour and I kept pondering if I should graft better foliage. Mine is much smaller so I'm not sure if I will ever be happy with the foliage.

I don't think it is the straight section itself.

The parts emphasizing and amplifying the straight sectioned are making it way worse than it is.

The long flat plane the bottom of the foliage creates is the worst, being the same size as the straight part makes it even MORE evident. That the pots straight line is the same length....x3 bad!

A Stick figures Ala Smoke let's us see how that plane is pointing towards the straight trunk section, and how it is further enhanced with the jins.

Our eyes are longing for the support of a strong trunk underneath that canopy. Support that that we feel should be there via that missing trunk line of the big jin.

But if you start to break up those emphasizers......View attachment 161599

Your eye can more easily flow up into and thru and back down the tree.

Bending that trunk up with no reason why is ruining the whole design you are paying at least $70 of the $170 for, as every bit of styling would go straight out the window.

So why not then just buy a $35 one with a shorter more tapered trunk from the nursery?

I like this one though.

With the RIGHT fixes!

Fair points Sorce. @Fishtank307 you might wanna keep the money in your pocket for Lagas. Go to Gingko too. I've heard that place is awesome and Danny's pics on facebook say so too.
No idea whether the price is cool or not actually. Pricing is really hard, and US prices vary vastly from European prices. The European prices do vary like a mofo too, Balkan is really cheap compared to ours.
Do let know if you buy the thing!

Because its long, ropey and unruly. I don't mind the color.
I have a couple of Parsons junipers. I like to keep them in juvenile foliage.
I don't think the adult foliage is quite as long as old gold but it's long enough that I like the juvenile better.
Just cut stuff off and it comes back somewhere else.
They are blue and pretty nice trees or they would be decorating the house as shrubs.
