Just a few cellphone photos I took of trees they had on display.

Thanks for sharing. I had a day off in Columbus this summer and went to see the collection. I was pleasantly surprised and had a great time. I was especially fond of the Natal Plum cascade.

I'm not sure what the tree is in the white pot that is inside, I was curious to the pot maker on that one...

Yes lots of amazing trees! There are two in white pots one is a ficus and one is a bougainvillea but I'm not sure of the pot makers either.

I had a great time. I was not sure if they had been posted before. There were a lot of great trees hard to pick a favorite I like the bougainvillea because I know they are actually a Vine and hard to grow. I also liked the American beech. I enjoy seeing what can be done with trees native to United States. The jabily ( operculicarya decaryl) was very cool and unique. I've never even heard of that before. Something I learned I guess would be that it's hard to guess the age of a great looking tree. The Buttonwood was 375 years old but to me didn't look as old as some of the other younger trees. I definitely got a lot of inspiration this weekend. Plus three new trees.

I was a horticulturist here after graduating OSU before moving away from Columbus. I used to get paid to water these and and stayed after work to learn from the plant societies. The Columbus bonsai society was fantastic and I strongly encourage looking at their calendar to anyone zone 5 or 6.

Few more they didn’t have out the first time I went.

I don't remember the whole story, but ask someone to tell you about the deformed gingko in the courtyard. The leaves are twisted and mangled looking. From what I remember, its an atomic bomb survivor that was mutated by radiation and later propagated and gifted to different gardens across the world by Japan.

I did see a gingko there but didn’t know there was a back story like that to it. That’s really cool.
