Included are John Naka's technique books, some more common titles, and a few beautiful books I have not come across before. There is also a lovely sketch by an artist unknown to me, and some newspaper articles featuring the books previous owner. His name is Ron Allison, and it seems that he was quite active in bonsai clubs around Eureka California as well as Portland Oregon later in life. I am curious if anyone here may have known Ron and could tell me something about him. Any info on some of the more obscure books would be greatly appreciated as well.

I'm embarrassed to say I own almost all of them :)

That Saikei book looks really interesting!
I aswell own all except the Naka pair.
I had a signed set in perfect condition for a long time and finally passed them on. Went for $250 on the auction!
image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg That is all the further I ever opened them, I had already read both before I got these two.

From what I can find online that's a 1967 publication written by the founder of the Nippon Bonsai-Saikei Institute and the Nippon Saikei Association. He took over the nursery from his father and was a regular contributor to Bonsai World Magazine and is featured in a number of Bonsai Bark posts. It's gonna be hard to decide where to begin reading with all of these!

When you finish reading those and taking written notes.
Set Amazon to Bonsai Books and try for some that are earlier than 1960.
Great information on their soils, wintering ............................
Enjoy your find !!!
Good Day
