Advice needed for this Bougainvillea

Hello to everyone here this will be my first post on the site. Picked up this Bougainvillea yesterday for a good price but i need to fix whatever is causing this leaf curl. I don't see any pests so far but it was in a large greenhouse among many other plants and the roots seem to be in good condition. Was wondering if I should remove all the flowers and damaged leaves and spray with something like Bayer 3in1? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Poor care caused it. Its probably root bound and the roots tend to rot easily. The thing to remember is that you need to convert nursery style growth to your style growth.

You probably can't reproduce nursery style growth so the first thing to do is to remove foliage. Either trimming or branch removal or leaf thinning. I'd remove the flowers.

Whether you do anything or not there will be leaf drop. They are fairly hearty. Give it as much light as possible and discount any winter growth.

Next you need to work on transforming nursery roots to bonsai roots.

Try and get the roots to balance the foliage.

Then you can think about a style.

Ok thank you, yea I think I will remove flowers and thin out some. Its roots have filled the pot but doesn't look severely root bound. I guess i will just have to wait to see until it is the right time to get in there

that is some healthy root system and bougies actually like being root-bound.
