I picked up a little European cypress "christmas tree" and wonder if it would make a decent bonsai after the holidays? I've googled it but not found much info.
Payed quite a lot for it and would like to do something with it, providing I can keep it alive this winter in the house.

So apparently it has multiple names and I only discovered that by googling at 4AM, not sure why I couldn't find that last night. More common name is lawsons cypress or port orford cedar.

Well, it's currently dressed as a Christmas tree so not sure how helpful a pic will be.
I was wondering about the species in general not my specific tree.

Cupressus sempervirens or macrocarpa possibly.

Let me reword. I have a Chamaecypari Iawsoniana “Ellwoodii” and was wondering if this species is good for bonsai?

It's really more of a cedar them a true cypress.
