JWP? It's cool!
Actually, it’s a Japanese Black pine… I thought it was a white pine when I first saw it... It’s got super short needles right now. I just finished sending it out and reducing the buds, along with some moss abatement work :D

Think I'm running into some problems @october ran into with fungus and/or other issues. I wouldn't think care requirements for a grafted JWP would be too different from a "regular" JBP.

With all that happened in my backyard over the weekend, these two youngsters didn’t want to stay home today… But who could blame them. They got a little cleaned up and ready for another growing season. The Tall, skinny one has a one-sided root base, But I think it will be OK because of the literati design. I deliberately left a few extra buds at the top as insurance. They will get removed this spring as the tree starts to grow.

The small one needs a repot into dryer soil!

It needs a root graft and a little age, but it has good bones.

Fairy tale monstrosties (while still pretty cool) are NOT what sparked my childhood fascination with bonsai. It was little fellas like that. Little pines trees which can cut glass.

Another super slow pre-Christmas day at work, so I brought these to win to evaluate. The one on the right was initially wired out to be a literati, but I think it is better suited for a shohin at this point. It’s going to get repotted and a route graft or to the spring. The one on the left, a Japanese red Pine, is just a flat out mess :). It was also wired out to be a literati. I cut it back with a new Trunkline in mind. It’s going to get repotted this spring, and might get a root graft… Or it might get thrown over my fence into the woods.

@Dav4 except for the small sticks you got some pretty nice material to work on, and pretty confident you're gonna make cool stuff of the small sticks too!
