The Old Man on the rock is shook nasty (ask your teenager). He says 117 degrees F is inhumane. He says he needs a vacation in Anchorage. The tree told him to shut it, it is the one getting all the sun.

The old man said stop triming the tree. Every time it starts giving decent shade you trim it. He also calls me some name I don't recognize. I tell him to shut it or I will move him to the cactus garden.

He wants a new fishing pole as well. He thinks the fish might be biting again.

So the Old Man on the rock is really pissy at me now. He says the tree is wilting and the lake keeps overflowing. He also says he lost his fishing pole again and I really suck as a caretaker!

I tell the Old Man to shut it and the tree is rootbound so it is not draining well and the roots got a little warm with the switch to the south side of the house for winter. I tell him I will do some root work on his tree and replace the soil but there is no guarantee I can save his tree.
He calls me the same name I don't understand (I am going to have to look that up) and asks me about the fishing pole.
I tell him I will get him another pole but he is going to have to hold it with his feet because his fingers fell off.
Again with the name...I tell him to shut it and that I am growing him another tree if his does not make it.
He seems both happy and skeptical about my ability to actually grow something.

Ok so the old man was right to be skeptical of my growing abilities...I killed his tree. Every time I passed him on the bench he shakes his fist and calls me the name (see above) I finally got fed up with him and stuck him under a 5 gallon bucket. At least I dont have to look at him. I can still faintly hear his muffled voice. I have not told the old man yet but I think I found a replacement for himm today.

Sorry about your tree, but it's death made your story better, lol.

Cape Honeysuckle. About 2.5 inches across. Some really nice bark and some options. So, maybe you guys can give me some advice on how to proceed. Getting cold here so I will probably wait until spring to do any major trimming. The old man is going to have to move pots but by the time I take him out from under neath that bucket in spring I think he will be ready for a change.
