Is this a Juniper?

Pulled this off a cliff face outside Salt Lake City. Just wondering if anyone knows what exactly it is. Should be fun to trim up sometime.

Not a juniper. I don't know what it is buts it pretty cool, should be a fun project.

No it is not a juniper. It is not even a conifer. What it is... I cannot say.

I pulled it off a little cliff face just outside Salt Lake City. My friend got one also. I’ll look at more photos on google and see how they like pots.

I live in Utah too. Moke is right, it is a Mountain Mahogany, there are several varieties

I'll third that. I see them all over. Do you plan to keep it inside till spring like the sage plants?

Seems there are a couple kinds of mountain mahogany https://oregonstate.edu/trees/broadleaf_genera/species/mtn_mahogany_spp.html

I wouldn't mind having one myself, wonder if any nurseries sell them or if I should hit up a member who has them local.

This one is in a pot on the front porch should be just fine. I’ll let it do it’s own thing and see how it trims up in spring.

Where do you live? I could grab one for you and put in the post. It just snowed a ton so it may be a little before I can get one out as you have to climb a bit to get to the shale area where they come out with full roots.
