I walk in a local National Trust Reserve pretty much everyday, but I always walk the same route. Today I decided to park in a different car park and walk the complete opposite direction and I'm really glad I did. My normal route is a mostly deciduous forest with a couple of pines and a handful of Yew thrown in, but at the other side was mostly fir and pines.
After I'd been walking for about an hour, I started to climb a hill above a stream, as it started to level out I could see a small clearing in the distance. That's where I found this monster:
After looking it up when I got home, apparently the guy who owned the land planted this Giant Sequoia back in the 1800s in the middle of nowhere and now we're left with this beast. I've never seen anything like it. Truly amazing.
