In the midst of repotting and this opportunity came to me. The rock and tree fit almost perfectly and I had to go for it ! Here I am using a wrap method with saran and then foil, the saran keeps moisture in on the rocks and the foil presses the roots down to get the best possible contact. Before fully pressing in the foil I top filled with akadama. I always see Tridents over rocks but not many JM over rock, any tips ? I have used this method for Ficus hopefully it works just as well with deciduous.

Amazing fit!! Ive seen Japanese Maple used in root over rock to great effect. The roots do not swell in the same way as a trident’s but will secure to a rock nicely in only a year or two. Good luck!

As an aside, may I ask where you get the plastic tubing you’re using on your wire? Ive been looking for something similar.
