Was looking at this today and notice a thick branch coming off at the base. I don't know if maybe it will fatten up the base or maybe be able to use it in the design later. Either way will let it grow out.
I'v never seen anything grow out as fast as this little tree. Seems to change daily.

I have a sweetgum that has been growing for a while and the leaves look different. That is a vigorous tree though!

This is the only picture I have of the leaves but you get the idea. Larger ones keep the same shape.

Your leaves look like my old sweetgum tree. I bought it as "Oriental Sweetgum Liquidambar." I looked up sweetgum leaves and see images of both.

The picture on the right is from the American sweetgum. When the leaves start out small they are easily confused for trident maple leaves. I have a mature one in my backyard with the spikey gumballs :( They are a pain to clean up every year. They have produced numerous volunteers, 4 of which I have saved and have started growing out. They do get beautiful fall color, orange, yellow, deep reds to purple.

Looking awesome so far. Looks like your garden is popping!
Yes its popping good. I bought a decent dawn redwood to work on that I was concerned it was near dead when I got it late last year. Its sprouting all over now. Love seeing new growth in the spring.

I have 7 Anatolian Sweetgum candidates that I received last year, and while following the title, I noticed that no posts have been made since 2018. I'm very curious about the latest status of this tree
