I bought this a few days ago and it will be here by the time I get home tonight. I'm planning to put it in the ground for a few years to thicken it up a bit but thought I would share the pictures I have. I'll get more tonight or tomorrow but just wanted to see what you guys think of it. I love pomegranate, they're really fun to work with.

It was not, that was for matching the listing with the tree.

Nice trunk. House of bonsai?
Yep. I'd buy a lot more from them if they would answer any messages. Over the last few years I have emailed/messaged them on eBay multiple times and never received a response. Being as they are across the country, I have to pick from what they have online.

These twig up nicely. if this was mine i'd want to cut right back into the old wood and build from there. ive just potted one of these up, it had been growing in a flowerpot in an allottment for a number of years. ill start a thread on it later in the season. Ryan neil recently did a stream on twisted pomegranite.

Since it was shipped cross-country and is probably already leafed out, I probably won't do anything to it this summer. I am going to take a look at it when I get home but I think I would like to see if I can thicken it up a little before working on refinement. I'll post more pictures when I get home.

Yeah, they are fun to work with. I had another from house of bonsai that I really enjoyed but had to let go when I moved (if you care to see, look in my history for my other thread under the same name). I have actually tried to contact the guy who bought it to see about buying it back now that I'm settled but he sees and then ignores my messages.

Nice movement, good roots, I'd almost want it to stay this size...

The tree definitely has more character in person . The last two pictures in post #11 show the front I like best, but I am not sure the exact line I want to follow. I'll most likely leave it alone until I have a solid plan.

What a nice start. The twists have a great start. How long does it take for a pomegranate to get the twisting started, anyone know?

I asked @bonhe about it recently and he told me that it is a variety of normal pomegranate. Not sure exactly how long it takes to being the twisted appearance.

My guess is about 10 years. This cutting was done on the 5 years old branch five years ago. Trunk has no twist at that time. Today, I can see a little twist in the trunk base!
Hi GeorgiaBonsai, I hope you don't mind me to post 2 pictures here.

How thick was this branch when you made it a cutting?

I just bought a Dwarf Pomegranite at the Philadelphia flower show. It's very small and probably needs to be put in the ground for a few years. Will it be okay in zone 7? If not, should I put it in a bigger pot? It's only about 8 inches tall. When I purchased it, it was already in a bonsai pot.

Pomegranates are hardy to zone 7, so you're fine. But I strongly advise you put it in a nursery can. How big is the trunk?
