If the Southerners wanted to decide what chili is, they should've won the war.
We didn't as much decide, as understand that putting beans in chili is like adding water to good bourbon...why?

Texas chili does not have beans. Except, when it does. Texas chili is chili con carne - peppers with meat. But, just as popular is chili con carne y frijoles - peppers with meat and beans.

So basically you need the entire name, not just Chili to describe it correctly. Many as you make and serve chili con carne y frijoles :)

So what you are basically saying is that Texans do not know the difference between chili and sloppy joes??

This is great, not an argument about soil, fertilizer or what is a tree vs bonsai. What the &;)$ is going on. Ya this DMV weather bites.....

No crap, and after reading all this, I don't know if I should be having chilli or sloppy joes for dinner... if I should be wearing sneakers, flip flops, or wife beaters... or if I should be drinking beer or bourbon... and only an idiot would add water in any form to good bourbon:cool:.

but my trees are definitely staying outside tonight

Low of 35 tonight. A couple degrees wrong and I could be in trouble. Ugh. Guess I’ll move em.

Yesterday it was warmer here than in Miami and tonight we are heading downhill with a freeze warning so I gathered them all into the garage, again. In the process I noted the beech is about to leaf out, the viburnum is pushing shoots out its bark, my Florida BC has green shoots popping, and my hornbeam has very tiny little buds where none were before. A freeze might end all that progress.

When I lived in Colorado, once we got a bitter hailstorm the size of golfballs in JUNE.

Ground was just ice. Continued to rain nonstop until the end of the month.
