my point was, I hope you've lifted this thing recently. I know every tree is unique and soil is everything but I really got some funky ugly roots fast.

I did do a little dig around...
Seems ok but after it starts growing better I will check deeper and possible even throw it in a basket.

Debating whether or not to start cutting back to these this year.....

Drains like crazy. Retains the right amount of water.
Your roots will look a lot different next time you repot.
Because I believe it will pull through.
Amur is the Rocky Balboa of the maple world.

Shade please and top dress the soil to keep it moist. Then it will live
