Nice looking trees! I agree, there is something about an overnight rain, especially if it's a thunderstorm. The trees always seem to look happier the next morning (providing the storm wasn't too bad). Maybe it's the nitrates in the rainwater or the lower pH or maybe it's just my imagination. We haven't had much rain up here since the trees leafed out and could use a good downpour.
What variety linden is that - American (tilia americana) or small leafed (tilia cordata) or something else? I have a couple (cordata) that I was trying to develop in containers, but was having a lot of trouble keeping them happy. The leaves would get very chlorotic every summer. Finally put both of them in the ground to develop and they've been very happy but I'm going to have to eventually figure out the container thing...

Its the stupid BIG ASS LEAF sorry it drives me nuts. I leaf pruned it today ... My teacher/friend and all around good guy sold it to me 5 or 6 years ago it was grown ad a bonsai meaning no crazy roots. I repotted it 2 years ago. This year again here are a couple of pictures of the roots. For all the fertilizer discussions the reason I use ORGANICS ...

I think it's the lower PH on some trees and esp plants can help with too high PH watering from a tap for a few days. Maybe also the flushing of salts.
I use lake water so i dunno.
