Would you mind posting a close up of your chop? How long would you let the leader grow before cutting back?

I found this picture which was two years after collection. I usually let newly collected trees just grow the first two years with nothing else done to them. There were three new leaders that had grown about 5 feet. I selected the lowest one and removed the top two. The remaining leader was then cut back, and has been yearly since.
