The last two images with the slab are virtuals, just wishful thinking. The slab by Jan Culek is already in my garden. I do not want to place the spruce onto it now. Can wait until end of August or middle of April. I will report. The tree at them moment is in a very small pot on purpose. Thus it can be slip-potted without disturbing the rootball.

I am always amazed and look in real awe these ancient trees surviving the collection and habituate the limited space of a pot!
I know my comments are worth nothing, however I cannot but say "Amazing work" !
And you do not use muck for your slab potting you have said Mr. Pall @Walter Pall ? Am I correct?

No muck necessary, as the rootball is very firm.

Extraordinary piece of material Walter, and a fine job of styling. When did the big root come off? Is that the big hollow at the base?

That is a very informative progression for me. I will be referring to it many times over the years I am sure for my spruce yamadori. Thank you for this.

How many times did you wire the tree? Twice plus guy wires?
