Alain,
the moving GIFs are very important to overcome the big problem of trees usually looking better in reality than on a photograph. They give a three dimensional feeling which is lacking in a two dimensional picture. The Naturalistic Bonsai Style is still underestimated by many who only see the photographs. The trees look untidy, unkempt, raw, not styled well. The disadvantage of two dimensional pictures hits this style hard compared to reality, harder than 'normal' bonsai which are per se classically styled in a two dimensional way.
It is possible since a long time to have 3-D photographs which is a way overcome this problem. But one needs special glasses which no-one has. And one needs two identical photographs which differ only by the distance between the eyes. I am sure soon this will be on every device without special glasses. Then the whole world will jump onto it but not have two almost identical photographs of the same object. i will - this is what the GIFs are made of.
In the instructions to the GIF-making software it says that 10 % of people hate these e images, 40 % do not have much relation to them. 50% think they are a great addition until we have real 3-D images on every device. So I am afraid you will have to just ignore them in the future.
BTW, I do know that there are 3-D and 360 degree photographs on smartphones. They are a pain in the a..s on PCs because they block everything taking up way too much storage. The GIFs are very harmless in the is respect.
