yep, taper is good on this one. Only the apex has to grow and i have to decide the hight of it. That will be next year i hope.Nice work ruben !

i'm aiming at around 1/4 trunk base/ height. Guide lines, spoke a lot about them with teachers.

Yeah wel i aint that strict on the height thicknes ratio as long as it looks balanced and somewhat realistic

A little update.
Finally i have some good grow on this one. deadwood and selection are probably going too be done in fall. (with help)
This smurf is going great.
The steam jin yew. Some branches died after steaming.
And this one exploded, i really have to dive in this one before taking it to marc noelanders in september.

I like holes too, Will taught me a way too make nice ones. All dead wood on this one is done by hand.

You are right about the crossing jins. Jins are obvious attractors in a design and in this case they seem to draw into each other creating a conflicted design that cannot be accounted for by gravity, avalanche, or the vagaries of the winds. If the tree were mine and I wish it was, I would seriously shorten the long jin on the first right trunk. I would cut it almost in half. It looks to me like there is another larger trunk behind everything else that could be reduced. I would also consider changing the planting angle so that it inclines to the right about another 30*.

Just 4 Jelle. The raft is for sale by any good offer. I'm getting a little bit fastidious and the hole thing with those rocks is getting out of controle.
