Excellent! Thank you for posting your updates, Thụ Thoại.
If I was to speak the language of a modiste I could name your pictures quite aptly as "sewing patterns"

The sphagnum moss has been soaked into the tap water since this morning . It will be used for air layering of flower quince and sweet seedless pomegranate this afternoon!

Is it a sport or reversion do you think?

Could you elaborate your thought more? Thanks Sister

Just wonder if it's something that is not normal for that particular variety if it's some aberration of the plant. Looks like you are already in summer mode there.

Thanks. I don’t see this phenomenon in the regular ume and don’t have other contorted ume to compare. However, this sign reinforces my knowledge:
1- the young branch or trunk has photosynthesis ability. The side in the shade has green color due to more chlorophyll in the area to get enough sugar from photosynthesis
2- the purple red color in the side exposed to sunlight because the sunlight damages chlorophyll. The purple color is also acting as a “sunscreen”,

You are absolutely right! It has been hot here in a couple of days ?. However, I like it because I want to see my Huangshan pine seedlings grow faster.

How can you protect it in the winter?
Where did you buy the seeds?
Thu Thoai
I have lotus seeds if you need them.
They are a favorite of mine and I have a lot of seeds that have been in storage for a few years.
Germination can be sped up with a warm/cool stratification cycle and scarification. For small batches a file works, large batches I put them in a barrel with some rocks and cinder blocks and roll them down the road and back. That way I can do a 50lb batch in about 15 minutes.
