Here's one of 4 procumbens I purchased a few years ago. All four were badly neglected and I purchased for about $25 each.

As purchased in the summer or fall (I can't quite remember) of 2017

A cut back in the summer of 2018:

I repotted in the spring of 2019 and did some additional cut back.

Decided to try my hand at an initial style over the past week or so...

I like working w/ these trees because they respond very well to training, but the foliage leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you've worked a lot w/ shimpaku and other good foliage junipers. None the less, these procumbens have taught me plenty about design, wiring, etc and I'm happy w/ the progress. I might graft some shimpaku in the future. Critiques always welcome!

…..looks like a nice future ahead.....

deadwood looks a bit much out of scale....can always reduce/re-fine. ok initial structure, but you could probably reduce some branch length....etc....;)

Good job.....not a fan of procumbens, but this looks cool.....but yeah, if you can great.....shimpaku is so much nicer!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

….have a cold one in celebration!!!
