Year 2 with this tree. I pulled a 6" seedling out of the flower bed last spring and stuck it in a pond basket just for the hell of it. This spring it went into this box. It's now about 4' tall with maybe a 1.5" trunk. Much thickening and growing to go. And before you tell me I'm wasting my time -save your breath - I don't care. This one is for fun.

Do you have anything you are working on that is not a waste of time? How about posting a photo of that?

Haha. Ok Vance. Maybe some consider everything I'm working on to be a waste of time but I think these are worth my time. There are threads on all of these all over the forum. I'll even throw a mugo in here for ya.

My Amur maple from the start of my bonsai reboot. Grown from the whip about 7 years ago. From it I can see mistakes and lessons, but thankfully I can still move forward through growth and grafting remedies. It needs some carving.

Kinsai after a hard trim back in late May.

Really like that pot. I got one from eagleville pottery, and a bit unsatisfied. The color wasn't the same as the one pictured. I'm still a bit over potted too probably.
Used the "chopstick method" for tie down...that went smooth. I'll up my game a bit at the next repot in 2 or 3 years.

I did not mean to tweak your nose, I was only trying to understand where you are coming from. When you are young making comments about time and wasting it etc are easy to come by. Then one day you discover you have wasted more time on meaningless pieces of material and have only learned one thing from them: The time wasted to discover what you have been told would have been better spent on material with a potential greater than that of a sweet potato.

Don’t forget your photos, boys.
