What is the grey powder on the roots in the early photos? Root hormone after pruning?

Walter already responded to this comment in the past my intention is just to add a testimonial.

Here in my country there was a bonsai professional who cultivated for over 50 years all their trees literally bathing them in polysulfide, even conifers (which were the majority) and here those standing trees follow ... the mycorrhizae are overrated within the Bonsai community!

PD: It is also true that the new owners of these trees even after several years complain that it is impossible to completely remove that whitish color of the barks ... maybe it will take another 50 years.

Perhaps for trees that are already in cultivation in a pot. I'm not so certain about trees that are collected.

Still if it works for you, it works for you. I'm happy so long as beautiful trees keep being made.

Fantastic base, beautiful colour and nice natural movement. The pot choice and ramification in the apex are very appealing.

Absolutely beautiful. Do you leave this outdoor all year? I looked up the temperature data south of Munich and it seems to vary quite a bit but seems it could get as cold as -18C in some places.

I protect them from strong frost in a greenhouse. But this year winter came back after the trees were on the shelves already. As you can see they survived well. But it was a close call.
