Beautiful, Judy! The leaves look similar to mine but mine I think are more pointy. I'll have to look later. I know there are several varieties of elaeagnus that are similar, plus hybrids...so it can be difficult to know exactly what to call them. The person who sold me one (through ebay) couldn't say for sure, other than that it bloomed in the fall.

Yes the smell is heavenly, @thumblessprimate1 . Only an ume could be better for fragrance. I imagine climate must have something to do with when they bloom @Bonsai Nut ?

Chris, I have seen the ebay offerings, and the leaves are slightly yellow/light greenish than these as well it seems from those photos.

Really nice!! Is there a special pruning regime so as not to cut off developing flower buds? I received a hand-me-down and it has never flowered.
In the winter after the flowering. Most shrubs are the same, they form new buds after the flowering. I have not had this tree long enough to need to prune much.

So that's what the flowers look like!! Wow!!! that's a great root stand...very fitting!!
Thanks very much it was made specifically for this tree.

Guess we didn't prune too much off @Dav4 as we kept picking at it...lol.

smells so nice
Just noticed my monster climbing uglyagnus was starting to bloom the other day as I was walking up to the front door; smells sooo good this time of year, basically their only redeeming value once they get out of control.

Your bonsai and stand are beautiful!

I can imagine how a big one would really be amazing. It's just such a singular scent.

Osmanthus fragrans has a similar scent in the fall, I can't really tell the difference between the two. They are nice hedge plants, but borderline in my zone, so probably not a common plant in your area. But I do love osmanthus!

Def none of that plant here, I’ve seen them down south but never in bloom mode.
Oh my I just went to look at what the blooms are and they are amazing! I saw several examples of good bonsai ones. Need to find one now...

Nothing showy, just like elaeagnus, but does also pack a punch and seems to linger for a month at least, bloom length is pretty similar.

cool, I usually get berries, but don't wind up with as many as the flowers...
That is an all around world class display composition! Nicely done!
