I note that some of you are also orchid fanciers.
All our local native orchids are terrestrials but we do have quite a range of species. I'll try to get some others as they flower in the bush but here's one I have in cultivation.
This is Pterostylis nutans - nodding greenhood.

These have not done particularly well this year. Flower stems are only about 3" tall.

This one is also an Aussie native though grows naturally quite a way north of here. Not really happy in our cold winters even in the unheated poly tunnel.

Early cymbidiums have also started to open

A few more flowers from the garden this week. starting with a selection of grevilleas.

Grevillea longifolia - one of the northern 'toothbrush' flowered types

A couple of different forms of grevillea alpina (a widespread species so has diverged into quite a few different shape, size and colored types) the red and yellow is more common.

A yellow flowered form of G. rosemarinifolia. (red is more usual with this species)

One of the prostrate forms of G. lanigera. This one is known as 'Mt Tamboritha' and is a nice dense groundcover.

Allocasuarinas are mostly trees but are dioecious - separate male plants and female plants though flowers on both are quite small and insignificant.
