Despite the drought and hardly any waterings and in FULL Sun
my Acer japonicum Otaki made it. It had been in the part shade of an aspen tree
its whole life. The aspen tree I removed and much of the trouble it brings to a landscape.
See the shadier side of the tree gets purple, red, usually yellow too and orange, but I'll take it...
proves what I said about this cultivar being more purple in more shade.

My wife's staying at this hotel right now.
?Anybody know what famous hotel it is?
The condos behind it are for rent as well.
I took these Sept 2014 when we stayed there.
14ºF. tonight there with 80% chance of snow and we just got back from Santa Rosa Island in Florida

I was out bathing in the forest today and asked, who/what eats all these mushrooms? A few steps later I looked down and saw my answer.

We stayed at the lodge, the one with the huge front and stairs, and in the rooms
when you turn the tv on, The Shining is played 24/7

He still looks good for 16 pampered cats live good long lives though thankfully. My last 3 I had before these I have now all lived to be between 18-19 yrs old.

His name was Bonzi (bon-zee)
He was 19. I could start my own thread just on pics of him...was my drinkin buddy.
Hopped up on the kitchen table with me every morning at breakfast and drank gobs of water.
Other one is 21-22+ yrs old and winding down (100+ yrs to ours) . Got her in 1999, rag doll precious.
Our cats were the only kids we have.

He definitly does Japonicus and I hope I brought back some good memories for ya. Same for me, my pets have been my kids for me so far and we love them so much! bonzi twin is Tiggy, so cool.
