Boy, are you lucky! Next weekend is the second most important and largest bonsai exhibition in Japan, AND its in Kyoto too!
The 39th Nippon Bonsai Taikan Exhibition will be held on November 22-24, 2019 in Kyoto at the Miyako Messe, just down the street from the Heian Shrine. Over 300 bonsai along with suiseki will be displayed along with scrolls and other accessories.
I'm honored again this year to be one of the judges for the bonsai. And, also on Friday & Saturday I'll be conducting an English walking guide through the exhibition at 3:30pm. I've got tickets and can give you a few.
This weekend in autumn is the best time to visit Kyoto because of all the brilliant Japanese maple leaves.

I'll be visiting Kyoto for a week very soon. I'd appreciate suggestions on where to go. I'm staying downtown, near the river. Thank you in advance. I'll be going to Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, Nanzen-ji and Eikando areas
