‘‘Twas the day before Christmas and out on the bench, the Ume was swelling but not growing an inch. The blossoms are sleeping awaiting the day, when the sun will be shining to come out and play!

For one thing’s for certain, they’ll smell sweet and not stink, and the blossoms aren’t white, instead they’ll be pink!

Merry Christmas, ya’ll!!!

This one is for sale on Ebay right now for $1,750. I bought one from the same guy a couple years ago and it's doing really well. Hard to find good Ume in the US

I bought this one last spring from a guy selling his bonsai and moving to Japan. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time!

That leader needs a heck of a lot of thickening. Get it in your landscape a few years :). Merry Christmas to you Adair and all BonsaiNut!

Merry Christmas to you Adair! Well composed.

Here is a picture from mine in NC. It is a cutting I rooted from what I remember as a seedling. It has not bloomed for me yet, so I am excited to see what exactly it produces after waiting about 8 years

Regards,
Martin

You guys with these umes are making me jealous! I've got one in the growing bed that is still years away. Due for either a trunk chop (probably) or digging/root work (maybe one more year) in the spring. It has managed to bloom once (late freezes usually get the buds), nice single pink flowers with that terrific ume fragrance...

I used to get them from Kanemi at Muranaka. Fond memories.

I need to get a couple myself to grow. Hopefully in 2020 I'll pick a few up.

Sir, did you buy it? I no longer see it on eBay. I wonder where those Ume come from, almost look like imported trees.

Your humble servant,
S. Dogwood
