That’s superb. Is the trunk all trunk, or is there some soil/rock among the roots creating that great base?

I think this one has some potential...
😍
That's BS Adair. Potential is in its' past. In the trees' history.

Has been achieved!
Not that you cant keep it going, reposition here n there or pot it up in a better home
but the potential has been nailed down. When did you get it?

On its own roots (i.e., ungrafted) or is this just Kokonoe foliage grafted onto something else?
On its own roots. It’s an exposed root JWP. It’s about 65 years old.

Maybe a better picture?

I didn’t get around to repotting it today. Maybe Sunday.

I’m planning on going to that California Shohin event tomorrow.

I gotta tell you Adair, out of all your trees, this one may have surpassed the rest to become my favorite... an amazing statement in itself. The huge root base, the old bark, the swooping and cascading branches all create such a fantastic image... it's trees like this that make my heart sing as a bonsaiist.

Do you have a picture of the pot you're going to put this one into?
