Yesterday I went to a local restaurant and got some takeout.
This morning I went to a local backery and got some fresh rolls for breakfast.
As my wife was at the stables with her horse, I was working the garden and preparing my trees for a sudden syberian onslaught; dropping30 degrees F in 48 hours here. Going from spring to winter.

The world is going crazy for a virus which is only marginally worse than the common flue. Insane.

We live in a small town of 12k. Back in the 60s-80s the thing to do on Saturday night was "Cruise Main St" like many other places then.
Tonight Saturday night a bunch of people drove up and down Main with their windows down(was 28 deg) honking and waving at each other like we did as teenagers. LOL Some had signs. It was kind of silly but good fun! Small enough town to recognize old friends ect...
Thought the wife was crazy to want to do this but, got to see the daughter and grandkids through the windows,

Peoples deserve their rulers, that's what an Algerian friend told me in the late 80s i when I met him in Turkey. It took me some time to fully understand what he meant, I was young.

And "God" doesn't give a shit, there's no "God", and if there were he fucked it all.

I mean, it's OK to believe in any fox, sorry, fake news as long as it doesn't harm the others. But for instance, there's a cluster of Covid-19 in the east because of an evangelist gathering : those tens of "believers" contaminated hundreds of people around. Many died who didn't care a fig about their sect. Stupidity is contagious, unfortunately, and it can be lethal too.

"Evangelists" :rolleyes:

I suppose they'll pray even more.

Ca nous fait une belle jambe.
Something like "what do they really care about us?"

Lol, small town. We have 650 and 2 nursing homes. But it's not even considered a town, it's a Village.

I think I am still missing the point. Maybe I am poorly informed. Maybe someone is just playing us all.

How many people do you personally know that have been infected?
Because .. at our university 0 known cases. None of my friends have it. And so far, nobody in my friends' circle has it.

Are we really closing down the whole world for a virus that has caused what.. 10K of people to die?
In a normal winter, 5K people die in the Netherlands alone through ailments pushed over the edge by flue.

Open question: Are we overreacting? And if not, why not?

I'm sorry to hear that.
And no. I don't think we're overreacting either.
My wife is still sick.
I'm not doing great either but can still work.
I can because I don't come into contact with another human in the course of the day.
It's me,my machine and the trees.

How many people do you personally know that have been tested?

When I left Florida 3/9 listening to public radio news. One had already died but Florida had @200 people tested positive at that time. The twist was only 850 people had been tested at that time.
I'm convinced I already had it back in December during our first trip there.
I wish there was a test for that and am I immune now?

Read this, easy enough to understand. It was written 2 weeks ago warning what is going to happen if we do nothing.
Coronavirus: Why You Must Act Now
What we should be doing:
Coronavirus: The Hammer and the Dance

If you have any questions please ask.

If you had it you carry immune genes now which are valuable if and only if collected and used. Contact your physician and be useful.

go ask the folks in Italy if its over reaction. hundreds dead per day, 651 yesterday. We are following Italy's trajectory so its going to get ugly here too. And as a country we don't take it seriously and our "leaders" called it a hoax until reality set in.

Nobody is overreacting. The numbers by me in NY are exploding, supplies are slim, demand is high. More and more people require ventilators. Hospitals are overwhelmed. drive through testing facilities are up. Navy hospital ship too. it hasn’t even begun to peak yet.
