Thanks.
Yes the moss was all removed, now it just keeps growing little weeds, very quickly.
I take it as a good sign that the substrate is a healthy environment to grow weeds, so should be good for the tree too.

Whoops, didnt update this much.. Ill back date with some pics for the record.
This is it currently, after a prune. Has had perhaps 2-3 full prunes with many minor ones, this season.

Looking nice and ragged.. In a few weeks this tree will have a lot more dropped leaves and yellow, then it'll look really great.. This tree's best image is when its leaves are dying off or completely off.

This last pic I had a bit more fun with Photoshop, made it more "drained" and colourless... when its naked in winter, it'll have a few B&W pics.

Looking good, looks like it had a good season, ready for a pot in spring maybe.

Update pics, awaiting hair cut. Completely in love with the pictures, they look great.

Can't decide between the first 2 pics for front, slight rotation in them...

Getting its proper pot in Spring and haircut will be during winter. Loving this tree right now..

Looks good from multiple angles. I particularly like the fourth picture.
I like to do thinning and wiring on elms about now, if you're planning to wire - the branches are still relatively pliable, and will have set in place by spring if wired now.

I like the back view a lot too.
The uro is gruesome, looks like a deep well.
I wonder how many inquisitive souls have fell through the dark abyss and never to be seen or heard of again.

Good info, thanks. Pliability of branches is something I'd not given enough thought too, bit more advanced to me, so I will try to think that way.

I am moving house .. next week, my hope were to do this work when I am in the house, its "part of the plan" for me, hence the waiting. It may not be ideal timing.

Nah, the timing will be fine - it’s not that critical. Good luck with the move.

Some much needed work done to this tree. I am really happy with the result. Its been cut back a good bit. More so than you would do at this stage but I needed to. As I am learning more, I am identifying issues from previous work and correcting, which means setting the tree back a bit but its worth it. I am happier with it and I think next year it will look great.

When I had finished the styling of the last branch and saw the tree, I was hit by a big sense of happiness, so I knew I was done. It needs a pot.
(don't mind the blackness on the base in places, it was damp and looks horrendous in pics once you see it)

This Spring it will be repotted, so some roots will be removed. I don't expect it to care much but will be interesting. As I keep watching it, I'm sure ill adjust some branches with guy wires, to bring them down but at the moment all is well. Will just be ramifying for now and small pruning. Hope to not need to apply any more wire for styling.

Absolutely squeezed in to this pot... Its been a while since this tree has seen this pot, now they are back again. Tree looks better when dry...

I'm not a fan of having the roots so up against the sides of the pot but didn't want to remove anymore. It has space under it, where the substrate was poured in.. some space.
Will see how it goes, plenty of moss on top.
