Simply remove the stems going left (except maybe the few down low), and its pretty much good to go IMHO.

If you are more of purist, syle-wise, you could keep just that set of stems that are primarily going up and to the right on pretty much the same trajectory. It could make for a nice flower display design, again IMHO.

Do you know what is happening below-ground?

I would take a serious look at the base & roots befor making any choices. Reason: This is a tree in conflict.

On the left you have a main trunk going off horizontally to the left. At the base of which you have a clump of branches mostly going to the right. Bringing those into harmony will involve a lot of thinning out, or deciding you want a clump. The roots might help decide.

I would not prune off any of the branches until after your spring repot.

Your heaviest branch, largest in diameter, leans to the left. This would in my mind be the main focal point of the tree. Explore the roots, if the roots allow you to move this tree to the center of the pot, or slightly right of center, will allow you to use that heavy left branch. The roots will determine where in the pot you can put the trunk. If I could, I would use that largest diameter branch either as the "main trunk" or at least as part of the clump if you go with a clump style. But until you see the roots, you don't know what you can do with it.

Nice looking cotoneaster. I'd be happy to have it on my bench, looks like a fun one to figure out.

Yes, wait 'till spring. Study picts this winter.
The crossovers need removal as stated but the strong parallels are as bad or worse.

I thought it was supposed to be D’MALL....

I was very confused.

I like the specimen a lot, all “robot proofreader jokes” aside.
