Looked like this in 2009.

Even though I'm in the UK it's good to see you around @Don Blackmond. I was worried if something was amiss. Hope you are OK and welcome back.

Piglet is indeed a beast with the can for scale. I hope you have help come repotting Serge, that's a back breaker.

Paul what's funny (or not!) is that compared to a couple of others I have (yatsubusa elm, etc) this one seems like a walk in the park on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

No wonder Walter recommends potting so infrequently - wise man!

Amazing tree with a perfect name. Hats off! How is it doing these days?

The tree is doing great thank you... although I can't take credit for its catchy name 😄 I will post an update after leaf fall. It went through two defoliations this year and probably could have done one more but didn't get to it.

Here we go. First work of 2021. Very happy with its progress but still ways to go. Some root grafts have been completed while others still in progress. I will post a few close up photos of the grafts.

@leatherback Sorry Jelle but autumn color last fall was nothing special so I did not bother with photos.

Piglet today before and after many hours of wiring and pruning.

The subrunks are epic, ramifying nicely, will be great once you get some thickening in the secondary branching🥂🍾😊

ps the trunk is to die for!

Agreed Bobby. Slowly getting there. The green drawn outline is my aim for the finished silhouette. So some ways to go still :)

Here is a pic I borrowed from Walter that's good inspiration.

You telling me it has not been eating vitamins and was a little pale in fall? Better treat this baby well. There will be a lot of internet fans very sad if next year you fail to deliver on the fall colors again. ;)

Such a great tree. It keeps reminding me on the importance of tree size. Just the sheer amount of branches bring the message. Guess I am not a shohin person. :)

A very fine, subtle & surgical work. The result is stunning & so motivating 👍

May i ask how many hours it took from the first pic to the final pic ?
