The cutting moved into a container, and by the end of summer it had rooted. SOme carving later and I had a nice start of a big lump olive

At some point I bought a small olive in a garden centre. Hoping for low buds it sat in my garden for a year? Two?

In 2013 I was done with it and thought, go bold or go home and lopped the head off. Waited, and ..

A little carving and developing branches later:

And two years later it is starting to go somewhere!

But then.. 2018 I had a sabbatical. And I was not there for a few months. That resulted in a deep-frozen olive.. RIP

It's a shame, that olive was looking so good.

This pine was bought in 2017 from a well known Polish trader.

In 2018 I had given it 2 wirings.

HOwever, I realized this was too small a tree to get the level of ramification / detail in a tree this small, and I received a decent offer. It moved to Switserland.

Such a great week. Sold 3 trees. Only 50 more to go to get to the optimal nr of trees (<100) 🤪

This hibiscus was dug in march 2020, made a good recovery and was chopped back in winter. On a forum someone asked me whether I wanted to sell one. 2 days later the tree had moved 100 miles :)

A very nice starter tree for an unusal species as bonsai.

If the weather is not too cold, that's about the right time to take cuttings and plant them in a frost-free area. I have one grown from a cutting I took years ago across the street, it's now been removed because of rod works, but mine is doing fine, about 1m50. It's the one in the background. I love the colours of the flowers, pink with a deep red heart :

-14c, is that cold?
Joking aside, I am reducing my collections. Not taking cuttings this year. Except maybe from akarara maples...

anything interesting?
Not really : sending them would be more expensive than what they're worth.

The few I've sold so far were taken at my place, the last one a week ago by someone who rode 100 km down south and anyway I'm not into pines or conifers (except Larch), but if I could sell some of those I have, I'd be glad. Someone can probably find the "coup de coeur" and have a future for them...

In winter 2014/2015 I was at a workshop in the UK, where I bought an overgrown juniper. Trimmed back, and brought into full health it came with me to a days of bonsaifun at a friends place, summer 2015:

In 2020 I rebuild the tree, which got slightly better:

Just not good enough. This picture is the last I have, before I sold it on. Not my tree.

In 2017 I got this juniper from a good friend who collected a field of these a few years before

After a little twisting I got it into configuration nr 1 over that winter:

Not really happy, in winter 2019 I change the configuration, and decided to graft ittoigawa on there:

Then winter came.
That was all she wrote.
Burn pile. Did not live through winter. Guess I have been messing with it too much in too little time.
