A Goji Berry...I dislike. I've only kept it for the neagari and the pot I put it in...which I won't sell. (Erin Pottery, one that Glynn the father had made and sold on Etsy.) Forcing me to do the time...and waiting for this to do something. I refuse to sell it...out of stubbornness. I would hate to see it come into its own...with time and perseverance.

That second tree is probably my favorite neagari that I've seen. Did you develop this yourself, or was it already a neagari when you got it?
I did not grow this tree, Boon did. From seed. It’s about 15 years old. Boon grew it and sold it to a client about 10 years ago. Boon’s client sold it to me last summer.

What species? Looks like it may have exfoliating bark. Love exfoliating bark. Cool roots!
Thanks! I'm pretty sure it is a Chinese Quince, but the seller kept calling it a Korean Quince. According to him, it was imported from KR a while back.

I'm thinking about cutting it eventually to begin creating a sumo, using the small branch-stump to act as a new leader. It'll have to wait though, since I need to nurture more strength into the tree.

I’ve got to regrow an apex on this one. Probably going to let it flower this year for the first time since I’ve had it.

How long have you had it? And is the one section dead? Assuming it maybe with your needing to regrow an apex. Once healthy not an issue at all. I know I had one weak one with old kanuma and it slowed...regaining strength now. What's it's story?

I look at how far this one has come...in development arrived in 2016 and current. An apex once healthy will be easy to rebuilt.

This tree was actually given to me. I believe it was in a very pinebark-heavy soil mix and was the weakest of the azaleas I was repotting last year. (As a side note, the azaleas I repotted last year that were strongest were proportionally strong as the Kanuma in the mix increased. Straight kanuma -> healthiest. Less/No kanuma -> weakest. That may not be a rule, but it was my experience when I had several satsuki to repot last year.) When I repotted it, it essentially barerooted so I cringed a little but did the best I could. I ended up plucking the flower buds off it to give it a break last year, though I've since heard that MAY not be as stress-relieving as I'd been led to believe for satsuki.

When it came to me, the apex was dead, as pictured. I've removed the dead portion and just trying to baby it again this year. If it grows well this spring I may hard prune it, as I've heard that's re-invigorating. If not, I plan to let it grow as it pleases this year and hard prune next year.

I've also heard once the apex dies out on some of these imported satsuki that their days are numbered. I'm obviously not throwing in the towel, but proceeding with caution.

Does that pot lip move up as it seems?

Seems planted with that in mind and I like the angle.

Wish it was a full pic!
