Another auction item from the Mammoth Fundraiser, and something to entertain myself with over the weekend. I wired it all out, but it still needs some work and a bit of thickening in the branch department. I really like the deadwood area so I'll just put a little wood hardener on it and keep it. I'll update with new pics as soon as it completely leafs out. Enjoy...

Beautiful tree. I'm assuming you've already sold it? I like what you have on eBay. I've already won a pot that you've sold on there.:)

Thanks all! I haven't sold it, it is officially in the "keeper" section of my bench. The bends in the main trunk were already done when I bought it, so all I really had to do was some fine wiring and a few cuts. The tree was actually about 8" taller and had two tops. Once I cut it back, I applied some 3mm aluminum to bend the top of the main trunk to take some of the straightness out. The rest was wired mostly with 1.5 and 2mm. It looks much better now that it is all leafed out. I'll take some update photos as soon as I have a little spare time.

I guess its time to start spraying for bugs again. Check out those ants, they are farming the aphids! I don't ever remember seeing aphids on my maples before, but I guess they like em. I'll be spraying with Sevin by Bayer as soon as the rain stops...

EDIT; I guess Sevin is a bit overkill, and will take out just about anything living. I purchased 2000 ladybugs instead...

and such nice leaves at that! A strong spray of water will knock aphids off... at least till your ladybugs come.
