    Dirk's big black pine (again)

Finally decided to change the front of this pine. I very much liked the drop-branch, especially with foligepads on different hight developing. I think this made me blind for the flaws of this branche. It was to thin, and at the same height of the big back branche. I still didn't like the first...

    The Tree Thread

This is my small larch. Somewhat neglected after our clubshow in april. Plan on restyling this tree next couple of years. Movement more to the left, first branche on the right jinned, and maybe a shari from the jinned branche down. The top is to crowded.

    Dirk's big black pine (again)

Frank, thanks for this reply. Could well be that the hand holding the wire kills most needles. I'll try to remember keeping the wire longer next time. What is exactly the benefit of misting regularly during or king the tree? I don't think it keeps needles from breaking?

    Dirk's big black pine (again)

I Stil feel the excitement standing face to face with this gorgeous tree! Though already nine years ago, still feel feel it watching this picture! Strange, isn't it?

Maybe @Adair M can combine his repotting class with his wiring class? Saves me one trip to the States!

    Dirk's big black pine (again)

I don't think I will be able to wire this dense tree, without breaking needles. Think proper wiring is very hard. Only if I wire after candle cutting, the broken needles are replaced sooner with new, smaller needles. So it will look good till next wiring! Maybe I'm just very clumsy and should...

    Dirk's big black pine (again)

This is the tree after thinning new needles and removing last year's needles. Needles grew pretty big after all. Seems to kept on growing till end of October? Next year I hope to repot it in a decent bonsaipot, and rewire after cand let cutting. Last winter I was so proud of my wiring job...

I really like this pine, and love the way the accent is presented! Just started this year developing branches on this birch raft.

You should be able to get better results than that! JBP in The Netherlands or Belgium will never be able to compete with those in Japan, Califonia or Texas. But even mine are doing better than yours!

    Fall work JBP Needle Pulling

My teacher won't let us pull needles. We cut needles, to promote needle buds. Pulling needles pulls also the dormant bud in between them?

    Pots and headaches

I don't agree. It's not the way I do business, don't expect this from others. I'll find out wether or not the tree will fit in this pot. There's one big root that needs to be shorted, I think it can be done.

    Pots and headaches

I very much agree with the part 'Horst Heinzlreiter is one of the best potters working today'. On his website is a blue oval that is fabulous: It's really a pity he isn't making that much pots anymore.

    Pots and headaches

I Like the pot the way it is. With a literati tree you need Imperfection. So, I don't mind it being warped. Intended or not. A pot with some age to it would be great also.

    Pots and headaches

Yes, it was in this thread https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/cembra-pine.30140/. It doesn't look good in 2D, because of the bend n the top of the trunk. In 3D it looks super!
