    A "larch" Story Part 2.

    Hi I just have a small question, Is it normal for the tips of needles on a larch to turn brown as the buds are opening? It isnt over the whole tree just here and there. Its on my japanese larch. That is a nice tree its one of the coolest larches ive seen, how old is it??

    Yes i like mountain ash a lot too there are aobut 4 or 5 huge ones in my driveway and this was a seedling of one of them. im thinking of oging to a smaller pot next year, but still i might not because the soil couldd dry out fast. thanks for the reply

    Thanks Vance Yes ive been treating it like a hinoki cypress because the hinoki cypress is similar to it i think. and yes i have been slowly working on those larches when i get them styled i can get another pic up if anyone wants.

    more pics... now here are the larch's and the maples i was tlaking aobut... so inside the grow box there are 2 big unidentified larches i guess ill know in the fall... and then the little one is a siberian larch i have about 4 little japanese larches also, should i add them in next repot...

    Hey there, at a local bonsai nursery i went out into his fields and found this, its 2 big larches, not sure what kind.. they were in a seedling tray for many many years and have had maples planted into the same tray, about 7 or 8 of them. so all together there was 7 or 8 shohin and mame maples...

    thanks but i dot have the option of growning on the ground because of farm animals and the fact that in the summer we r moving so the trees might not make it if i plant the trees in the ground now and dig them up so soon, plus the climalte different. but anyways im not gonna be giving up this...

    thanks bisjoe my planter box soil i used was peat moss with some sand and vermiculite in it. i odnt see how that would not benefit the plant. i didnt use a lot so it wouldnt kepp the soil warter logged or anything. what are the downs of the planter box mix used in the soils ????

    any grit sources?

    In your area, look for local feed stores, a store that would sell hay, cow feed, sheep feed, chicken feed, that kinda thing... when u get there ask for turkey grit and it should come in 3 different sizes.
