I've done the 2nd ring on pots over 14" since I started. It solves 2 major probs for me with big pots.

21 inches across. 30 pounds of clay to start. Drying. Final photo the pot is on a 24" bat.

A gnarly old larch would be great. As I suggested with the arborvitae it needs a lot of deadwood and the dragon head peaking up through.

There is not really much of a story here? This was a commissioned pot that I made for a good friend. He told me pretty much what he wanted. This first version wound up too long and too wide which happens sometimes when making ovals and stretching them from a thrown round. Sometimes I just guess...

Gorilla B Glue will make it usable as a bonsai pot. I have used it many times.

Dick, I use full strength CLR and scrub while wet with scotch brite. Rinse and repeat if needed. Victrinia, you make me chuckle! :) Patina.
