    ID- Possible bonsai?

Looks like a Yew. Whether or not it's worth anything bonsai-wise depends on the trunk. Yews can make very nice bonsai. If it sprouted there on its own in the last couple years there's probably not much to work with. Jorgen

    Repotting a Berberies

Welcome. In my experience you can repot these a bit later than other deciduous trees. I've always done mine right after the leaves have emerged. Looking at yours though it appears you have had leaves on that things for at least a couple weeks and I would wait on the repot. Not saying you would...

    Shimpaku Video first effort

Gotta agree with others comments that the pictures didn't do this tree justice. It looked good in the pictures but you can really see how nice it is in the video. Love the way it looks like wind is blowing through the "grass" in the moss. Jorgen

    Big Barberry still kickin!

No die back at all this year even with the rough winter. The two I have seem to be very hardy. Not sure if it's the variety I have or that I've just been lucky so far.

1st Attempt at Styling a Nursery Juniper

I was thinking the same about the planter size. The number reason that I have had trees die is from over potting. This was a lesson I learned the hard way loosing a couple nice trees. Now I always try to err on the smaller size with pots.

    When to collect azalea

Well there are plenty of videos and magazine articles that show very well developed azalea trunks being completely stripped of branches in order to grow entirely new ones. I have yet get up the nerve to do that though I've gone pretty close. Hard pruning has always yielded good back budding for me.

    When to collect azalea

I would wait until it warms up a bit more. The ground is still probably pretty hard and may even still be frozen. It is here in southern CT. Your window for collection on azaleas is much bigger than a lot of other species. I have successfully collected azaleas well into May, often after they...

    100% diatomite for soil?

Also snakes won't cross it. Has the same effect on their skin as it does on the exoskeletons of insects. So it's got that going for it...

    100% diatomite for soil?

I have used that exact Napa product for several years. I have used it straight on tropicals, lilac, junipers and even pines with very good success. I get really good fine roots with it. I have not used it straight on maples though. The reason being that nowadays I mix it with Turface and pine...

So, I found this amazing tree...

I drove by a beautiful pine everyday for years thinking I should ask about it as it was in a Lot that was for sale. This fall that lot was completely cleared by heavy machinery. Still regret not trying to get it. Go for it! All they can say is no.
