Because it's a newly collected and potted tree. I'll be backing off the watering now that it's growing again and moving it into full sun.

Here's what mine look like. It's been very warm and wet here so mine may have just taken off. It's in full shade and I've just been watering daily and spraying the foliage 2x a day.

I bought one from him this year too. When I first received it the new candles looked pale like that. They've since greened up and resumed growing in the past few weeks. How long have you had it?

I'm pretty new to this also but I've cooked a few trees getting them out into full sun too early. I just bought a Ponderosa off Andy and he recommends waiting until needles on new candles on just collected and repotted trees are about 1" before getting them out into the sun.

Picked up some of Josh's pumice over the weekend. It looks really nice. Probably 100% useable material. It shouldn't need any screening. Looking forward to getting some stuff planted in it. Josh, thanks again. Here's a pic if anyone else is interested. He has tons (literally) of it. :)

Hey whatever works. Are you going double strength to 30-30-30? Every other week? I'm trying to understand how you got all those buds to pop. Though it might have more to do with what you did at the end of last year. Great job whatever you did!

I have several 10-20 y.o. Parson's and San Jose in the yard that I'd like to get into pots. When is the best time to dig? I've had both success and failure with early spring collecting. Michael Hagedorn mentions June as a time he likes to work on them. Is now a good time to collect them as well?

Yikes, there are no crusty white spots. I don't think it's scale. No tiny bugs either and the discoloration is within the needles. Any particular fungicide?

Not sure what this is. There are lighter spots along the length of the needles. It's on both an Austrian and Japanese Black Pine. Is it the beginnings of Brown Spot? What can I do? Daconil?

You posted pics as I was writing. I bet you could fix that by layering just the damaged side. You'll definitely need strong rooting hormone, 0.1% IBA or better.

They can be air layered, it'll take a while and you need strong rooting hormone. There are some posts by a member named Graydon on here if you do a search. You may be able to grow new roots by applying rooting hormone to the damaged side. If your tree still has half a nebari could you obtain...

I have a four trunk clump of trident maple from an air layer that I separated 3-4 weeks ago. It has lots of new growth sprouting on it so I believe it has rooted well in it's pond basket. Unfortunately I did the air layer too low, so there is about 4" of single trunk below the 4 branch split...
