1). A tree with a straight trunk. 2). It has a strip of deadwood the whole length. Those are the only limitations. From that point on it can be chopped, slanted, and/or thread-grafted at any point along the living part of its trunk. No photo is necessary. Harping on about the importance of...

Go sit on your ears, you idiot. What the hell is your problem, anyway?

My interests are the same. In fact, I tossed out a very decent-looking Hinoki cypress recently just because I thought it was boring. Everyone I know was upset with me because it was very popular and anyone who came to visit considered it the centre of attraction. I never know what I will think...

You must really be stupid. Numbers of branches? Half of them died? (I never said that) And what do the number of branches have to do with it anyway? Maybe you are just semi-literate or you just want get your nose into the discussion, never mind it is completely irrelevant. And now that I think...

I never asked anyone to critique my project. I only asked for ideas on how the style (ambiguous) could be done. “Just chuck it” is what I would expect from a know-nothing who thinks all bonsai are tiny Japanese conifers. Whatever you think about bonsai (or me personally) makes no difference...

A vaguely familiar thread? I can't understand what I can't see. Can you submit a picture of it ... ;-)

I'm not sure what side of "the lean" would look best for the anchor root. I can't draw very well but with some well-placed ramification, some wires, and maybe carving out some taper in the trunk ... I think I could live with it.

What is wrong with you? Seriously. The thread has progressed into something interesting and constructive yet you insist on provoking confrontation. You are like a torn square of toilette paper that allowed your finger to poke through and get some of the brown stuff got stuck onto it. You just...

Yes, it would have been more accurate, but what is your point? Regardless, I still ask you .. what is your point? As it is you who is hell-bent on perpetuating confrontation, it is, therefore, your issues that need addressing, but please do not PM me. It is better for you to take that up with...

WOW! The main agitator has spoken. You obviously do not know the definition of "everyone" as in "unnecessary attitude with everyone in this thread". I know you think that everyone is the exclusive group of those who share your ilk but you're too late now. You've been side-lined, poor fellow.

I am here to talk about bonsai. You are here to display your deficiencies - it's you who is a troll.

You should have gone to school past the 3rd. grade. Now all you are is stupid and have no friends except the deaf & dumb Chihuahua you share lodgings with inside that car behind the bowling alley.

You live in the back seat of a rusty '53 Chevy behind an abandoned bowling alley, don't you.

Good idea ... chopping it and lowering the apex. That would take some of the visual rigidness out of it, and because all of the future growth will be by thread grafting I can experiment with it and place the lowest branch anywhere that would put the height of tree at its best advantage. Thank you.

Thanks, Bobby. Yes, I agree that a windswept would be difficult to pull off. I like your first photo and I can get some foliage with mine - to play with - at the apex (just like in that photo) ... it's just that I don't have that much movement the trunk, as you do. I have none really. It's...

I just took them this second and the light is failing, making the "tall" one almost useless to look at. But the "base" photo is representative of the whole length of the trunk even as it tapers towards the tip. I know it is difficult to discern but the branches coming in from the left are...

So the bottom line is that there is no interest in the subject, therefore no discussion ... and I should have resisted bringing it to this forum. Does that sound about right?

"Work"? It does not 'work' and that's the reason I am so seldom here. This forum acts like it's a cult. I only stopped in to give it another chance. I thought, maybe this time ..... But no. All you've got to say is "Give me a photo!" The subject is not photos nor my project. The subject is about...

Yes, I am sure it is very difficult knowing what a tree with foliage on only one side of the trunk looks like. Without a photo of one, how can you possibly imagine it? Mine must be the only one in existence. A straight trunk with foliage the length of one side. Wow. It is impossible. I have met...

"Raft" is a possibility for sure but "floating it down the river" sounds like more of the lazy and unfriendly demeanor of this forum. You people are not really interested in bonsai, are you. What are you here for .... to pump up your ego at the expense of someone you mistakenly assume is a...

Are you pretending not to understand the question? No interest (or experience) in a bonsai with growth on one side alone? * “The trunk is pretty much straight as an arrow” ... I wonder what that means? It must be Greek for “exaggerated S bends”. * “ … the tree is almost 50% vertically dead so...
