Really need help with my two main trees

Thank you all for the advice. Since most of you believe the juniper is probably a goner, should I go ahead and remove some of the brown foliage (or branches altogether) and see if that helps direct some energy to the healthy green areas?

Really need help with my two main trees

Hi everyone. So my two biggest trees are the crabapple on the left and a shimpaku on the right. Both were purchased around 4-5 months ago. Both were repotted on day 1 when I brought them home. Everything seemed fine, they were healthy, green, I just trimmed a few branches on each tree to...

    Is my tree dying?

wow I just googled wooly aphids and saw all these little tiny insects along with the white fluffy material, so I went and took a closer look andthere are indeed lots of little insects smaller than a millimeter in length, a redish/brown color. You were spot on. Is there any natural remedies I...

    Is my tree dying?

Fixed. One other thing guys, the leaves have become kinda droopy on the tree, they're all just hanging down lately. I just washed all the white substance off the branches and leaves. I'll research wooly aphids, thanks Brian.

    Is my tree dying?

Yes it's a powdery, fluffy (think of candy floss) kind of substance. I think I know what caused it too. I had to keep the tree indoors for a few days because my apartment complex were painting everyones patio around 2 weeks ago. It has been back outside in the sun since but the white mildew is...

    Is my tree dying?

I've noticed a white fluffy substance on my crab apple, I wasn't sure what it was at first but it seems to be spreading so I'm starting to worry What is it and what should I do about it? Thank you :(

Would appreciate some help with this shimpaku

Here are some pictures of before and what the tree looks like today. I've had it a few months now and have pretty much just left it outside as is. I'm not sure where to take this tree exactly. What should my concerns be for this tree right now? I know that I would like to get some back budding...

    Crabapple flowers but NO LEAVES

Just wanted a little more advice on my crab from you fine folk. So this was dug up out of the ground around a month ago. Repotted it and placed it in a good sized training pot and well draining soil. Feeding once a week and watering around twice. It was covered in little buds around the time...

    Black Pine

I am about to buy my first JBP and just wanted to say thank you for providing some very useful info.

    How are these JBPs?

Thanks, will check out Brussels and see what I can find! So guys can you tell me what's the most important thing to look for when it comes to selecting a pine? I know Brian said in his blog that the base size of the trunk and taper is more important that branch structure, so is that what I...

    How are these JBPs?

I think you're referring to the first picture alone? #2,3,4 all show buds in the lowest branches if I'm not mistaken. As fr what kind of tree I am looking for. I'm looking for something a little more demanding than a juniper or elm. I also like the stylistic aspect of pines, they're gorgeous.

Air layering a crab that was recently repotted?

Thanks for the information and concern rock, this is exactly what I joined this forum for, honest answers. I think it ill give a better idea if i include the pic of the crab in question. Like I said the main reason for removing the big branch is not for experimental purposes, or economic, but...

    How are these JBPs?

I don't think I can drive 3 hours to their nursery but I did check out their website and Ebay shop and by the looks of it, their prices are higher than house of bonsai and HOB has what i thought were nicer specimens. Looks like HOB is going to get my money once again!!

Air layering a crab that was recently repotted?

It's not really any trouble, it actually seems very straight forward from a technical point of view.

Air layering a crab that was recently repotted?

Some of you might have seen the thread of the crabapple I bought around a month ago. Some suggested I remove a particularly thick branch that gives the tree a 'reverse taper' appearance, and I decided to air layer that branch as it would make a pretty nice little tree in itself, and leave me...

    How are these JBPs?

Thanks for the info guys, so I guess the prices seem reasonable as far as JBPs go. If I don't find anything better for ~$150, I'll go back on Saturday and pick one up. Pretty excited! I always thought Brussels to be more expensive than other suppliers since they are more commercial and clearly...

    How are these JBPs?

I only saw small ones potted, $30 and $60 variety. I'm looking for something a little bigger for a good price. Thanks for your feedback :)

    How are these JBPs?

Greetings all. My birthday is coming up soon and I thought I'd treat myself a tree which has been on my mind lately, a JBP. I took a drive down to house of bonsai in Lakewood CA to have a wander around, and they have many JBPs, smallest ones start from $30 and are around 10" tall with thin 1-2cm...
