    Petition to eliminate the "Bar"

I find it to be quite ironic the timing of the site work which has led to the appearance of the bar posts in the new post section and the thread discussing the existence of the bar posted by mat in the feedback section.

    Rethink

I log onto the site this morning and click "new posts" and the first word in the first post listed is the n-word... I know B-nut is supposedly addressing the issue of the bar posts being displayed inadvertantly... Regardless, shame on all of you for posting such trash. This site is very...

Help! The karaoke bar threads are in my posts!

This has gotten a little nuts, no pun intended. The mood around here has changed a bit. Any other sites recommended where political rhetoric isn't so prevalent?

    thuja occidentalis teddy questions

Stumbled upon an old, neglected teddy with some real potential. I know very little about these little conifers. Have read they are pretty resilient to bouts of over or underwatering, enjoy full sun, prefer colder climates... etc etc. Wanted to see if anyone on here knew how they respond to...

    Post Count

I just don't see the point in having threads for topics unrelated to bonsai on a bonsai website. But, just my opinion. I do appreciate that those posts don't show up when searching for new posts. Ive only gone to those 2 threads twice, both times I had.immediate regret. When I'm on this site I...

    help doing some lite prunimg

Haha. Cheesey, but not bad. B+ for creativity. Pretty funny how the plants are right at the perfect munching height. Doesn't even have to strain her neck to chow down.

On Vacation, How Long Can Overwatering Be Done?

This thread has officially been hijacked... Something I'm OK with b/c vacations, the watering of plants on said vacations and coffee are all equally important in my opinion. If only I could vacation while surrounded by plants and coffee... Cheers to another trip to Costa Rica.

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

I have a few eastern red cedars on my balcony that I collected last winter, but they're 6" saplings. Not a great basis for comparison. My parents have a few in their yard that I can check out for comparison purposes. Once I reduce the height of the tree I'll be able to more easily move it...

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

When would be the best time to reduce the height of the two leaders? To make the tree manageable I'll be reducing the height by 12-18". My plan right now is to wire and lightly trim (no branch removal) this fall and hope to repot and do minor work on the roots in the early spring. I'm sure...

    Viewing Stone/ Bonsai Stand

Very nice. One of these years I'll get around to making something similar to this, but with a piece of slate inlaid on top. Be sure to post a pic once you use the stand.

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

Really wish I knew what species this was. Guess that's the drawback to digging through the island of unlabeled misfits at nurseries. Once I get some free time, I'll try to do a little research.

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

Nope. Contemplating a few options... Once I wire some of the branches and really get a feel for what I'm working with and what would work best with the material, I think I'll be better able to make up my mind. Right now, the prospect of retaining the thickest leader, introducing some nice...

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

Going to do some bending of the trunk and wiring over the winter then do some chopping in the spring. I've got my plan for it... hope she survives the winter well enough. Probably bury it in a small hole with mulch out of the wind. Sorry for the horrible backdrop.

Yea, I didn't take a good closeup with my phone camera. I really need to step up my tree ID'ing. Thanks for your input, Dwight and Dav.

    Scale-leaf Conifer Identification

Hoping someone could help ID a tree for me. Found this one tucked away at a nursery and was drawn to the trunk and nebari. Both are very well developed and I see real potential as an informal upright. As the tree had no label or price, the employee working wasn't certain what type of tree it...
