    Yellowing Juniper

I am new to bonsai too but have had great success by using the chopstick method. Get yourself a bamboo chopstick and stick it into the soil use it as a dipstick pull it out once a day and look at it. If the stick is dry water if not dont. I learned my lesson NEVER water to a schedule!

A thanks to all who have helped me.

I wont mess with them too much. I was very careful not to disturb the roots much when I did it. I only dug out enough soil mix to see the roots then covered them back up. I wont do anything except at the time of year recommended.

    Watering help.

Well I got the bamboo skewers and they seem to be doing the same thing the toothpicks were doing.. absorbing water and holding it. I dug down in my ficus soil today and the roots that were white are now dried out.. I think I let it get too dry waiting for the skewers to dry out. Ugg.. I have a...

What kind of tree is this?

I got this tree the other day as part of my mothers funerary decorations. I would like to do something with it in rememberance of her but I do not know what it is. At first I thought it was a ficus of some kind. But I loped off the top topiary "ball" and it did not bleed. So what is this thing?

I bet there have been dozens of threads with this title.. Well I purchased an over watered Juniper of an unknown type in a 5 inch Bonsai pot. It was in something that looked like muddy clay. I washed off the roots and a few were still alive. Cut off what I figured was dead. I put it in a free...

You should abort that plan. You will have a tree with two different sized leaves and it will not be fixable later.
